OpenAI introduces a new “adult mode” for ChatGPT, allowing users to engage in erotic conversations, but without the ability to generate pornographic content such as images, audio, or video.
Adult Mode Without Explicit Content
The upcoming feature, announced by OpenAI, will enable users to participate in lewd conversations but will not include the generation of explicit material. This measure is a response to concerns from an advisory council on well-being and AI, which warned about the risks that AI-generated erotica could lead to unhealthy addiction and that minors might gain access to the feature.
It has also been reported that OpenAI’s age verification technology has previously failed to correctly identify minors, potentially resulting in millions of young users gaining access to erotic conversations. OpenAI has stated that their algorithm meets industry standards but that no systems are completely error-free.
