Modular Data Centers from Duos and LG for AI Solutions

Duos Edge AI and LG CNS have developed modular data centers that can be rapidly deployed to support AI applications. These units offer a solution to the challenges posed by traditional data centers, which take a long time to build.

AI explained

How do modular data centers support faster AI deployment?

Duos Edge AI and LG CNS have developed modular data centers that house hundreds of GPUs in transportable units. These centers can be deployed in about six months, much faster than traditional data centers. They use liquid cooling and increased power to handle intensive AI workloads efficiently.

  • Summary: Modular data centers by Duos Edge AI and LG CNS contain up to 576 GPUs per unit and can be expanded to over 4,600 GPUs. They are designed for rapid deployment and efficient AI processing.
  • Why it matters: These modular units reduce the time and cost of building AI infrastructure, enabling quicker access to AI computing power.
  • Key point: Modular data centers offer a scalable and faster alternative to traditional data centers for AI applications.

Duos Edge AI and LG CNS Launch Modular Data Centers for Faster AI Deployment

Duos Edge AI has introduced modular computing units measuring 55 feet long and 12.5 feet wide. These container-like units can be transported by truck and house GPU racks commonly used in traditional data centers. Duos has partnered with Hydra Host to deploy four such units, each equipped with 576 GPUs, totaling 2,304 GPUs. There is also potential to expand to 4,608 GPUs in the future. LG CNS has developed a similar product, the AI Modular Data Center, which also contains 576 Nvidia GPUs and plans to develop an expanded version with over 4,600 GPUs.

Modular data centers are not a new concept for Duos, which has previously delivered such solutions to customers in rural areas. However, the new implementation is upgraded to handle more intensive AI workloads, featuring increased power and liquid cooling for efficient operation. Unlike traditional data centers, which require extensive construction costs and lengthy approval processes, modular units can be set up in about six months. This offers a significant advantage in a market where demand for AI solutions is rapidly growing. According to a report from Grand View Research, the market for modular data centers could more than double by 2030.

Implications for the U.S. Market

AIny brief analysis: The rapid advancement of modular data centers presents U.S. companies with the opportunity to deploy AI solutions without long lead times. This is particularly beneficial for smaller businesses aiming to leverage AI technology without heavy infrastructure investments. With increasing emphasis on sustainability and efficiency, modular data centers can also help meet regulatory requirements for data processing in various states.
