Embark Studios has decided to replace some of the AI-generated voice lines in the game Arc Raiders with professional actors. This was done following a successful launch of the game in October.
Change in Voice Acting
Studio head Patrick Söderlund stated that the quality of human voices is superior to AI, and that they have chosen to re-record certain lines based on player feedback. Although Arc Raiders has been very successful with nearly 500,000 players on Steam, there was criticism of the use of text-to-speech AI, which many players felt diminished the experience.
By returning to human voices, Embark Studios shows that they take player feedback seriously. Söderlund confirmed that they will continue to use voice actors in future updates, even though there will still be some AI-generated lines in the game.
